| For years, people have missaying numbers wrong. "How are we saying them wrong?" you might ask. Well, here is an example of a missaying: three thousand, one hundred and thirty (3130). The "and" is never needed in a number that does not have numbers after the decimal point (if a number does not have any numbers after the decimal point, it is implied that the number has infinite zeros after the point). So, the only time you should need the word "and" is when you have a number with numbers after the decimal point. Here's an example: thirty and one tenth (30.1). Alot of people say "and"s when they are speaking, especially people on television. They are actually mis using the word "and" when it is used for numbers. If you say, "Since you've won "Fear Factor", you will be receiving one hundred and fifty thousand dollars," expect only $100.50 because the "and" is being put in the wrong place. Isn't that pretty interesting? Next time you watch television, especially shows where they are giving away money, listen to where they put their "and"s. [If you didn't understand a word I just said anywhere in this thread, please PM me or reply to this post.] _________________

| I knew that already, the "and" is the speaking form of a decimal. Thanks though. _________________

Useless facts come in handy, BT06. Like the time I wason Wife Swap, they asked me the $1,000,000.00 question and I had the answer in my head, all thanks to RANDOM time. |
