How do I darken a signature?

How do I darken a image on GIMP? I have it open now.

Since i dont use GIMP, you could make a new layer and make it all black, then make the opacity of that layer lower... Perhaps 20% or however you need.

And if you intended to only darken the background, you could just erase the black.

And if you intended to only darken the background, you could just erase the black.

Also, make sure you change the layer mode to Soft Light or Darken (?) to stop the effect from looking as crude.

I don't have Gimp but another way of darkening the image is by using the Burn Tool, if they have it on Gimp. babycp

Yeah, make sure you do that too.

For example:

An image with lowered opacity alone:


An image with opacity and soft light blending mode:


I set the opacity at 54% by the way.
