| Announcements, are more or less the "big" things happening, News is more of the generic updates. And to discuss them.

| ...but why should the ""big" things" not be discussed? Couldn't the staff just post them in the news section, but have the threads locked? Also, I barely even check that forum. The image never changes from the locked sign and it seems to stay the same so I never look. If they are bigger and need to be noticed more, shouldn't they stick out more?

| Normally new mods are listed in the News forum though. I haven't really seen any plans for the future in the Announcements forum though.
Yes, News is updates but that is exactly what the Announcements forum is also.

| They are both the same thing pretty much. Announcements is for updates that they would rather not have discussed or it is too small of an update to discuss and News is updates that can be discussed. If it is posted in the news they most likely want your opinion on the update.
If they posted everything in News there would be so many replies to ever small update just saying "Cool" and "Awesome update" nobody would discuss it as much.

Exactly, so why even have seperate forums? Why not just lock the ones that they do not want users to post about?
Also, what about making the Annoucements a locked sub-forum of the News. Users could not post in it, it would still not be to noticable, and it would save space on the index.

If threads were locked here, they would get pushed far behind from other users posting in threads that are not locked, then nobody would notice them.
