this was an awesome book. Its about this kid at school named nick that just started 5th grade, when school gets boring, he always made it fun in his own way. he has a mean teacher this year. his teacher loves dictionaries. she has this one huge dictionary. the teacher told him: "Who says book means book? you do, Nicholas." so then when he walks home with one of his friends, she drops her pen, so he picked it up and was about to hand it to her. but then he thought about his teacher. "Who says pen means pen? you do, nicholas." so he thought about that, and thought that a funny word could replace pen."Who says frindle means pen? you do nicholas". so he handed his friend the pen and said "heres your... frindle." his friend asks him what a frindle is. the next day, after school was done, he went over to the gas station. he asked the lady at the counter "may I have a frindle?" the lady at the counter says "what?" and the nick says "a frindle." and points at the box of pens. She says "a pen? which color?" nick says "black please." the next day after school, he brings some of his friends over to the gas station. Nick told them to ask the lady for a frindle and buy a pen.One by one, the kids asked the lady for a frindle. The first couple of times, she was confused, and then a kid asked her for a frindle and the lady says "which color?" his friend says blue. Nick was looking at the food in the gas station. He grinned when he heard the lady. So then he sets up a club in school to start calling pens frindles so everyone could use his new word. this is only the beggineng. its a great book, and Nick becomes really famous at the end.

I read that book a while ago. It's okay, but have you ever wondered why Andrew Clements' books always have a person holding something out on the cover? It's a nice style... but after a while...

Well, yeah, anyway, I think Frindle makes Max or whatever-his-face-is go a little deeper with his teacher than I would ever want to in my whole life.
